Adam Burdick was the third son and fifth child of Nathan and Goodeth (Maxson) Burdick, born 28 December 1759 at Hopkinton, RI. He was for a few years a resident of West Winfield, Herkimer Co. Married Hannah Burdick on 22 April 1770 in Wilbraham, Hampden County, Massachusetts.The DAR records show him as a a recognized patriot. His first wife was Hannah Burdick (who was perhaps a cousin), b 5 Dec. 1756 and d 21 Feb. 1812. Adam's service was given as both Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as a private. Pension No. S12370. Service: Capt. Barker Wells, Col. Sanford Noyes, RI and 2)Capt. Sheldon, MA. Initially enlisted in Hopkinton in November 1776 for a six month service period in Captain Barker Wells' Co., Col Sanford Noyes' Rhode Island regiment. He was given his military pension after submitting his application on 17 February 1833 and his pension began on 30 July 1833. After his death, which was 20 February 1845 according to the New York State payment records for pensioners, his second wife received a widow's pension. Descendants claim her name was Lodema Lee and they had another child, neither claim that could be confirmed. In 1805 he moved to Winfield in Herkimer County. Adam's name is on the 1820 census at Winfield, Herkimer Co., with a male over 45 years and a female over 45 years.

Adam Burdick, Jr., the seventh child, became an early settler of Point Peninsula in the Town of Lyme in Jefferson Co., NY. There he purchased 100 acres of land and commenced clearing and developing a farm.

An indenture made 19 January 1842 between Eliza Burdick of Lyme, Jeff. Co. and Nelson Burdick of Lyme of the second part...in consideration of the sum of $100 paid to her sold all the one undivided half part of all that parcel of land situated in Lyme, known and distinguished as the lot of land formerly contracted to ADAM BURDICK on Point Peninsula in the town of Lyme... containing 100 acres surveyed by L. Torrey on September 1834, subject to the right of dower or life estate of the party of the first part in one/third of the above described premises. Recorded 7 Nov. 1842 S3-598

For $100 the parties of the first part paid by the party of the second part, a parcel of land in Lyme being known as the lot of land formerly contracted to ADAM BURDICK of Point Peninsula in the Town of Lyme, being 100 acres more or less surveyed by Levi Torrey in Sept. 1834. .../s/ G. In a Watertown, N.Y. newspaper: Died on 3 October 1880, the widow of Adam Burdick, Eliza, mother of Nelson Burdick, (b 1798) at 82 years, 5 months. The marker in Brookside Cemetery in Watertown for Adam Burdick shows his date of birth as 1792 and his death in 1836.
They were the parents of four sons:

and died 6 July 1906. Married Sobrinia, daughter of Libbeus and Charlotte (Sanford) Hewit. She was born 14 March 1826 and died 21 June 1905. Both are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Cape Vincent.
4)Wayne - died on the homestead at Point Peninsula. Born 1826 and d 1846. Married
Sarah Ella Carlisle, daughter of John C. and Pamelia (Waffle) Carlisle.
2)Nelson, the second son above, was born 28 December 1826 at Point Peninsula. Watertown. He died 1908. On 7 March 1844, he married Catherine Getman, born 1824, who died in 1846. He married 2) Delia Getman. b 1828 d 1911. Nelson also served as the mayor of Watertown, NY. Children:
