PIONEER BUTTERFIELD FAMILY


 
1.  FRANCIS BUTTERFIELD was born 28 Apr 1794 in Fairfield, Vermont. 
He removed to Antwerp, Jefferson County, at some point, and then to
Redwood, Town of Alexandria, where their children were born from
1828-1846.  FRANCIS died 10 Apr 1878 in Redwood, Town of Alexandria
and was buried in the Redwood Cemetery.

He married

POLLY McALLASTER, who was the daughter of FRANCIS & ANNA BRADFORD
(AVERILL) MCALLASTER.  She was born 8 Dec 1798 in Springfield,
Vermont and died in 1881 at Black River, Town of LeRay, Jefferson
County but was buried in the Redwood Cemetery with her husband.

2.  PHIRANDA BUTTERFIELD (son of FRANCIS & POLLY (MCALLASTER)
BUTTERFIELD) was born Nov 1816 in New York State.  Since his
parents were married at Antwerp, Jefferson County, and since most
of his siblings were born there or at Redwood, we assume he was
born within the county.

He married 

MARGARET DANIELS, about whom nothing is known.

4.  WILLIAM W. BUTTERFIELD (son of FRANCIS & POLLY (MCALLASTER)
BUTTERFIELD) was born 24 Mar 1822 in Antwerp, Jefferson County.  
He died 22 Sep 1909 at Redwood, and is buried in Redwood Cemetery,
where is middle initial is recorded as *m*.

He married 14 Aug 1856 

LAURA T. STEVENS, who was born on a farm in Vermont 2 nov 1825. 
She died 7 Jul 1903 and is buried in Redwood Cemetery with her
husband.

Children, BUTTERFIELD:

   20     i   LAURA BUTTERFIELD married CYRIL WATSON


8.  CHARLES EMERSON BUTTERFIELD (son of FRANCIS & POLLY
(MCALLASTER) BUTTERFIELD) was born 4 Jul 1828 at Redwood, Town of
Alexandria, Jefferson County NY.  By 1850, when he was married, he
had left Jefferson County for Bellvue, Sarpy County, Nebraska,
where it appears he spent the rest of his life.  There his children
were born, and there he died 24 May 1884.

He married about 1850 at Bellvue

ISABELLE STEBBINS who was the daughter of JOEL & ROSE (CALVIN)
STEBBINS.  She was born in New York State 20 Aug 1833.  She died 28
Jan 1907 at Neola, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, and was buried 30
Jan 1907 at Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.

   25     v   POLLY AMELIA BUTTERFIELD married HENRY CRAFT

   26    vi   WILLIAM WALLACE BUTTERFIELD

   27   vii   CHARLES ADOLPHUS BUTTERFIELD married SOPHIA JULIAN

   28  viii   MARY HELEN BUTTERFIELD married MATTHEW TULLY

   29    ix   GEORGE BUTTERFIELD married MINNIE OLSEN

   30     x   CLAYTON EMERSON BUTTERFIELD (twin)

   31    xi   CLINTON PATTERSON BUTTERFIELD (twin)
