PIONEER COLE FAMILY

1. NICHOLAS COLE was born 25 May 1796 in Canada W, and died 2 June 1863 in Jefferson County. He was buried in Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville. Per Census, the Coles resided in 1840/Lyme, 1850/Clayton, 1860/Orleans and were farmers. Possible other children or grandchildren living with them were CAROLINE COLE (b 1848), CHARLES M. COLE (b1858) and NETTIE COLE(b 1863), all born in Jefferson County.

2. RANSOM J. COLE, was b 1826 in Canada. He was a Civil War Soldier, enlisted 28 July 1862 in the Tenth NY Artillery. He died at Kalama Hospital 11 January 1863 of small pox while he was serving. Because of his death, his family was left destitute. He was buried in Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville. (Orleans #2 census)

8. ALFRED M. COLE was married in Theresa ME Church, and shortly afterward moved to Michigan. I believe they are related to the Alanson Cole Family of Theresa, NY. They all settled finally in the area near Alaska/Caledonia in West Michigan.
