MANNSVILLE.

Josiah Goddard, a lifelong resident of our village, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Gillespie, near Woodville, last Monday night. He worked for many years in the tannery here for the late Hamilton Root, and cared for his aged mother, their home being where the Episcopal chapel now stands. Mr. Goddard was a pensioner, serving as a soldier in the civil war. He was an honest, upright man, never known to have trouble with any one, a devoted son, a kind husband and loving father. He leaves two daughters to cherish his memory. Burial in Maplewood.
