HENRY THOMPSON HALLADAY

Union Soldier - Distinguished Service

Henry Thompson Halladay, wagonmaker by trade, was born June 9, 1823 in Carthage, NY. He married Polly (---). At the age of 41 years he enlisted for 1 year at Henderson, Jefferson Cty, NY in the 186th N.Y.V.I. - Company B on August 24, 1864. He was mustered in on September 4, 1864. He attained rank of Corporal. He was injured to his foot in New York on his way to the field which permanently disabled him, discharged from Hospital Henderson June, 1865. Honorably discharged, June 16, 1865 with a disability. The town of Henderson paid him a bounty of $1000 for his service. He died at the age of 74 on 9 August 1897 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Henderson, NY.

He was the son of Josiah Halladay and Jemima (---) of Henderson, NY.
