Union Soldier - Distingushed Service
Shumway William Halladay, Enlisted at Cape Vincent, NY, on 15 December 1861 as a private at the age of 18 years for 3 years in Company P, 94th Infantry Regiment, New York and was mustered in on 17 December 1861. He listed as his occupation farmer. He was a resident of Worth, NY, single, the son of Lewis Halladay and Emeline Payne, grandson of Josiah Halladay and Roxa Reed of Clayton NY. He was born, 5 July 1843, in Clayton, NY, the youngest of 3 boys.
Joined Union, Company C, 94th Infantry Regiment New York on 13 February 1862. Transferred Company C, 94th Infantry Regiment New York on 01 August 1863. Transfered in Company 10th, 2nd Battn Regiment RC on 01 August 1863.\line Discharged Company 10th, 2nd Battn Regiment RC on 15 February 1865
In the 4 days Battle of Gettysburgh; taken sick, sent to the Columbia College Hospital, transferred to Co. 10, 2 Battn, Vet reserve corps. Discharged 13 February 1865 in Washington, DC. Died -19 September 1865.
Buried at Worthville, NY.
