*”This indenture made the 15th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and two between Governor Morris of the first part and James Leray of the second part, witnesseth that whereas the parties by virtue of a conveyance made by William Constable and Anne, his wife, to the said Gouverneur Morris on the second and to the said James Leray on the third day of January in the year of our Lord one thous'd, eight hundred, stand seized in fee of all that tract or parcel of land commonly called Great number four in Macomb Purchase and whereas they have agreed to divide the same in a manner different from that in which they hold by virtue of the said conveyances. Therefore the party of the first part in consideration of the conveyance from the Party of the second part, and Grace, his wife, bearing even date herewith and of the sum of one dollar, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold aliened remised released and confirmed and hereby for himself and his heirs doth grant bargain and alien remise release and confirm to the said party of the second part, ALL that tract piece or parcel of land commonly called Great Lot Number four in Macomb's Purchase excepting two hundred and twenty thousand acres part thereof divided into five hundred lots of four hundred and forty acres each which he the said James and Grace, his wife, have as aforesaid this day conveyed to the said Party of the first part under the following description...”
