1.  BAZILLE GUYOT was born at Troyes, France, November 1790 of unknown
parents.  He came to the U.S. at the urging of James LeRay deChaumont (also
from Troyes area)  who was inducing skilled immigrants to come to the area.
Bazille arrived at Long Falls 16 June 1816, unmarried.  He bought an island in
the Black River,  naming it Guyot Island.  He built several mills on it, and 
with his sons owned  the carding mill, machine shop, axe factory, furniture 
factory, and a tannery.  He became American citzen 5 Sept. 1826, residing at 
He has been honored by Carthage by his name being engraved on the Pioneer
monument erected and dedicated in Monument Park close to gravesites of him,
wife and children.
Bazille died 15 May 1865 at Carthage.  He is buried in Monument Park, along
with:  wife Mary Frances; daughter Josephine died 1838; son Bazille Jr.
(unmarried) died 1845.  Graves are marked with a very large, tall four-sided
stone.  I possess copies of many family obituaries.

He married in (1) 1820

MARY (MARIETTE) FRANCES LeROUX who was born 1800 in Brest, France,
of unknown parents.  She came to U.S. 1810.  She and Bazille had nine children. 
She died 20 Feb. 1843.

6.  HARRIET GUYOT (daughter of BAZILLE & MARY (Mariette) FRANCES
(LeROUX) GUYOT) was born 12 Mar 1828, Carthage, Town of Wilna.  She
died 21 May 1901 at Anderson, Indiana.  

She married 10 Dec. 1850 at Carthage
