2. ALONZO PERCIVAL JENKS, (son of GEORGE WASHINGTON and HANNAH (HUESTIS) JENKS) was born 14 Oct 1822 at Sackets Harbor, Town of Hounsfield, Jefferson County. He became a lawyer and also a farmer when he and his wife arrived in Wisconsin. Their son also became a lawyer and was an Iowa county judge for 50 years and Grand Master of Masons in Wisconsin in 1896. Two other of his sons, Maxwell and Franklin, also became lawyers and also became Grand Masters of Masons in Wisconsin. I'm trying to find what Alonzo's father and Grandfather did for a living. He died 11 May 1890 at Darlington, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, and was buried there 13 May.
He married 25 Oct 1849 at Sackets Harbor
MATILDA BARKER was born 14 Jul 1823 at Shelfanger, Northrop, England. She came to America in 1830 and settled in New York. Her parents eventually joined the Mormon church and traveled west in 1848 settling in Ogden, Utah in 1849. Matilda was a school teacher, as was Alonzo, and was engaged to Alonzo before the rest of the Barker family became Mormons and moved west, so she stayed in NY but soon moved with her husband to Darlington, WI. She died 23 Mar 1902 at Darlington.
