PROCEEDINGS OF THE COUNTY TEMPERANCE CONVENTION
HELD AT THE COURT HOUSE, JUNE 11, 1852:

The Convention assembled at 10 o'clock a.m., Maj. M. R. PATRICK, the President, called the meeting to order.

The Rev. A. O. WIGHTMAN, of Copenhagen, briefly, but eloquently addressed the Throne of Grace. The Secretary then read the proceedings of the last annual meeting of the Society. On motion, the towns were called in alphabetical order, and the following names were reported as delegates:

From Lewis Co., the names of F. COTRELL and Rev. A. O. WIGHTMAN, were reported, as in attendance, who, by vote of the Convention were invited to participate in its deliberations.

On a motion, a Committee of Five was appointed to report resolutions for the consideration of the meeting. The Committee was composed of the Hon. A. W. DANFORTH of Philadelphia, H. BAILEY of Brownville, ALEX. Y. STEWART of Wilna, DANIEL HARLOW of Hounsfield, GEORGE A. JENKINS of Ellisburgh.

On like motion a Committee of one from each town represented to be selected by each delegation, was appointed to report a plan of operations for the consideration of the Convention, the Com. To have the power to select their own Chairman.

The Committee was composed of ARTEMUS BATES, JAMES C. WILLIS, PETER SUITS, BERIAH ALLEN, THOS. C. WAITE, STEPHEN JOHNSON, HON. D. WARDWELL, O. H. HARRIS, S. SEYMOUR, L. WILCOX, B. C. CRANDALL, J. R. ROBINSON, LOREN BUSHNELL, H. DANFORTH, GEO. WEBB, F. ROBINSON, SOLON MASEY, PALMER SCOTT.

On like motion a Com. Of five was appointed by the Chair, to report an address to the people of the County of Jefferson, for the consideration of the Convention. The com. Was composed of LYMAN WRIGHT, JAMES A. BELL, JOEL WOODWORTH, JOHN N. GREEN, ALEX. CAMPBELL.

The Chairman of the Committee on resolutions announced that said Com. Was ready to report, before receiving which the Convention adjourned for one hour.
