In researching my Phillips line in Jefferson County, I found this obit for Ebenezer Phillips in my files:
Ebenezer Phillips served as a private in Colonel Bond's regiment, Captain Trow's company for twelve months. He was discharged at Mt. Independence
married Rachel Gale, who died sometime after 1805.
He married (2) Charlotte Hayden Jan. 09, 1820 in Cheshire County, N.H. He had two daughters: Roxie and Betsy.
He died March 11, 1854 in the Town of Houndsfield and is buried in the North Adams Cemetery. His wife is not there or her headstone has disappeared.
No other children are mentioned in this obit. Looks like the children in the 1850 census, are his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hope this is of some help!
I am looking for information of my great grandfather, Alonzo Phillips, of Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., NY. He was b. 1810, VT. He married Lavinia Fillmore, daughter of Ethni and Eunice (Colgrove) Fillmore. He died in 1858, age 49 in Ellisburg, NY. Lavinia Fillmore Phillips's 2nd marriage was to Silas Farmer of Lorraine. She died in 1895, age 81 in Henderson, NY. Alonzo and Lavinia Phillips had 10 children, all of whom I'm researching.
The only lead I have so far that may be connected to my great grandfather, Alonzo Phillips, is the 1830 census of Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., NY. (Roll 92 Bk 1, Pg. 49). It lists a Joshua Phillips and Oran Phillips on each side of Ethni Fillmore! I believe there may be a family connection between Joshua and Oran to Alonzo Phillips, who m. Lavinia Fillmore in 1830-1831.
Would like to learn if this Joshua and Oran were from Vermont, and where they went after 1830. If anyone can connect to these Phillips, I would be grateful to hear from you.
Julia (Phillips) Lewis
