About this newspaper: It was titled Northern New York Journal, published in Watertown, NY from 1849 to 1866. Publication began in 1849 and ceased in 1866, and it was a weekly newspaper. The newspaper had a policy of requesting payment for insertion of marriage notices. Several digital issues of this paper had the marriage/death notices cut out so they could not be included here.

At the residence of is father in Utica, on the 6th inst., of consumption, age about 29 years, JOHN N. SMITH, Esq., druggist of this village, and son of NICHOLAS SMITH, Esq., of the former place.

In Dexter, on the morning of the 7th inst., MRS. MERCY HOWK, age 82 years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Brownville.

In Watertown, last Monday night, Mr. WALTER N. WEBB, age 29. His funeral will be attended at the Baptist Church on Thursday at 11 o'clock A.M.

At Point Peninsula, Feb. 6th, ALVAIL, son of WARREN and ARMINDA FULLER, age 3 months.

March 27, 1850, p. 2:

In Philadelphia, on the 20th inst., by the Rev. J. A. Rosseel, Mr. JAMES O. CALDWELL, of Napoleon, Ohio, to Miss MARY M. WHITE, of Philadelphia.

In Alpina, on the 10th inst., by George H. Wood, Esq., Mr. THOMAS HOGAN of Lewisburgh, Lewis Co., to Miss EVELINE KINSMAN, of the former place.

In this village, March 10th, of scarlet fever, SARAH JANE WOOD, DAUGHTER of BENJA. and AUGUSTA WOOD, age 5 years, 10 months and 16 days.

In Watertown, on the 24th inst., at the residence of C. D. Morgan, of typhus fever, CHARLES GRENNELL, in the 27th year of his age.

April 10, 1850:

At Black River, on the 17th ult, by Geo. W.. Hazelton, Esq., Mr. JAMES IRVIN, to Miss ADALINE HUTCHINSON, both of Watertown.

In this town, on the 17th ult, MRS. HULDAH, wife of Mr. ASAPH MATHER, age 68 years.

In Watertown of consumption, on the first inst., after a long and painful illness, Miss CYNTHIA S. WEEKS, in the 19th year of her age, daughter of AMMIAL WEEKS of Madison, Lake Co., Ohio.

April 17, 1850, p. 4:

In Adams, Jeff. Co., on the 4th inst., by the Rev. T. Bright, MOSES PIERSON, M.D., of Fishkill, Duchess Co., and Miss LOUISA MARIA HORTON, of the former place.

May 8, 1850, p. 4:

In Cooperstown, on the 24th ult, by the Rev. C. K. McHarg, WM. A. CATHCART, of Brownville, Jeff. Co., to LAURA, youngest daughter of HORACE LATHROP, Esq.

May 22, 1850, p. 2:

In Brownville, on the 16th inst., by Rev. L. Rice, Rev. C. A. SKINNER, Pastor of the Universalist Society at Dexter, to Miss CORNELIA BARTHOLOMEW, only daughter of OLIVER BARTHOLOMEW.

At the Empire House in this village, on the 18th, inst., by Rev. J. H. Stewart, Mr. GEORGE CHARNICK of Lorraine, to Miss SELONA WEBB, of the same place.

At Yuba City, Cal., Feb. 28th, Mr. CHAS. W. ANDERSON, about 25 years, son of DANIEL ANDERSON, of Belleville, Jeff. Co., NY.

At Adams Centre, on the 11th inst., MRS. ORRA HEATH, wife of TIMOTHY HEATH, age 65 years. This woman has been a prodigy among women for some years, on account of her great weight, which was, at the time of her decease four hundred and fifty pounds.

At his residence in this village, on the 18th inst., of consumption, Mr. CHAS. T. BRAINARD, in the 25th year of his age. His funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. I. Brayton, at the second Presbyterian Church to one of the fullest congregations ever assembled on a similar occasion in this village. His remains were followed to their resting place by the members of the Mechanic's Mutual Protection. Lewis Co. papers please publish.

At Copenhagen, on the 18th inst., Rev. Mr. WEEKS of Stowe's Square, (Lowville), age about 50 years.

In this village on the 16th inst., MRS. JANE WOOLLEY, wife of JAMES WOOLEY, age 26 years.

In Chaumont, Jeff. Co., NY, MRS. CATHERINE B. EASTERLY, age 33 years, 1 month and 29 days. Funeral service by Rev. J. H. Stewart.

At the residence of her father, in this village, on the 15th inst., MRS. SARAH ELIZABETH, wife of Mr. CHARLES BURT, in the 28th year of her age.

July 3, 1850, p. 1:

At Copenhagen on the 17th of June, MRS. PHEBE ALLEN, wife of JOHN H. ALLEN, age 39 years.

July 24, 1850, p. 3:

In Rutland, on the 11th inst., by Rev. E. Arnold, Mr. GEO W. LEIHY, of Detroit, Mich., and Miss SARAH A. BULL, of Rutland.

In Watertown on the 20th inst., by Rev. J. H. Stewart, Mr. MORTIMER DELANO of Green Bay, Wis., to MRS. SILVA BIRMINGHAM of Watertown, NY.

July 31, 1850, p. 4:

Fatal Accident-- A son of Mr. ENOCH BARNES, age about 6 years, residing near Theresa, was fatally injured on the 26th inst. He was sitting, in company with his father, upon the tongue of a lumber wagon, when the oxen, a spirited yoke, ran with great force, throwing off the father, and catching the little boy in some of the machinery at the junction of the tongue with the axletree. The flesh was literally stripped from one of his legs, while his body was one continuous bruise. He lingered until the next day, when he expired.

In Brownville, July 13, CLARA ANN, eldest daughter of Mr. GEORGE I. KNIGHT in the 15th year of her age.

At Perch River, in the town of Brownville, on Thursday last, of inflammation of the bowels, JAMES L. BELTON, age 16 years, son of ROBERT BELTON.

August 7, 1850, p. 1:

At Franklin Co., Ohio, on the 21st July, MRS. MELISSA E. CLARKE, daughter of JOSEPH SAWYER of Watertown, the wife of DR. W. I. CLARKE, age 27? years and 11 months. Mrs. Clarke was born in Watertown, NY, August 5th -rest unreadable copy.

August 14, 1850, p. 1:

Of consumption at her residence, Woodville, on Sabbath morning, August 4, CLARISSA, 2nd wife of CAPT. WM. GRAY, in the 44th year of her age. Mrs. Gray's last illness, which was of four months duration was endured with great patience. She leaves an afflicted husband.

At Chicago of cholera, Sunday, the 28th ult, after a few hours illness, MRS. MARY ANN PIERCE, daughter of A. CHAPIN, Esq., of Tylersville, in this county. Within twelve short months from the time the subject of this notice left the parental home, and in four months from the time of her marriage, she was called to occupy the house appointed for all living.

August 21, 1850, p. 2:

At Adams Centre, on the 24th ult, MRS. LOIS, wife of Mr. P. WRIGHT, age 33 years.

In Adams, on the 12th inst., WILLIAM, infant son of WM. C. and ANTONETTE THOMPSON, age 3 months and 12 days.

At North Adams, on the 28th ult., of consumption, Mr. SEYMOUR HUBBARD, age 23 years and 6 months, youngest son of E. HUBBARD, Esq.

In Pamelia, on the 8th inst., DE ELTON C., eldest son of CLARK and LOVINIA JENKS, in the 4th year of his age.

August 28, 1850, p. 3:

At Champion, on the 27th inst., by Rev. S. J. May, of Syracuse, Mr. GEORGE A. WALTON, of Lawrence, MA to Miss ELECTA N. LINCOLN, for several years past the first assistant in the Normal School at West Newton, Mass., and daughter of MARTIN LINCOLN, Esq., of Champion.

September 11, 1850, p. 3:

On the 30th of April, at his residence in Rutland, WILLIAM O. WALDO, in the 38th year of his age.

September 18, 1850, p. 3:

At Sandy Hill, on the 31st ult., by Rev. Mr. Taylor, URIAS G. PARIS, Attorney and Counselor at Law, to Miss CORDELIA E. ROGERS, daughter of Hon. CHARLES ROGERS, all of the above place.

October 16, 1850, p. 4:

In Watertown, on the 10th inst., by Rev. A. J. Phelps, Mr. JOHN L. DELANO of Chaumont, to Miss MARIA McGILLIS, of Watertown.

On the 13th inst., by the same, Mr. CYRUS T. PORTER, to MRS. BETSEY W. HERRICK, both of LeRay.

October 23, 1850, p. 3:

On Tuesday, Oct. 1st, by Rev. I. Brayton, Mr. CALVIN S. BALL of Pompey, Onondaga Co., to Miss SARAH A. HUNGERFORD of Watertown.

At the residence of his father, in Pamelia, on the morning of the 21st inst., of hemmorage of the lungs, THOMAS CLINTON BROWN, Esq., Attorney at Law, age 24 years.

At Hamilton, Madison Co., on the 17th inst., JANE OSGOOD, sister of Mrs. H. W. WOODRUFF, of this village, age 19 years.

November 6, 1850, p. 1:

Oct. 23, at the residence of Sylvester S. Hare, by Ralph Gurnee, Esq., HENRY PRILST, to Miss AMILLIA J. HARE, both of Orleans. (probable Priest)

In Watertown, on the 2d inst. Mr. ALPHEUS WILSON, age almost 65 years.

November 13, 1850, p. 1:

In this village, on the 3d inst., by Rev. P. Snyder, JACOB WETTERHAHN, of LaFargeville, to MARY FONDERSCHMIDT of Watertown.

At Rome, NY, Oct. 18th, FREDERICK WILLIAM, second son of Rev. WM. E. and ALICE W. KNOX, age 1 year and 5 months.

December 11, 1850, p. 1:
