About this newspaper: It was titled Northern New York Journal, published in Watertown, NY from 1849 to 1866. Publication began in 1849 and ceased in 1866, and it was a weekly newspaper. The newspaper had a policy of requesting payment for insertion of marriage notices. Several digital issues of this paper had the marriage/death notices cut out so they could not be included here.

In Dexter, on the morning of the 7th inst., MRS. MERCY HOWK, age 82 years. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Brownville.
In Watertown, last Monday night, Mr. WALTER N. WEBB, age 29. His funeral will be attended at the Baptist Church on Thursday at 11 o'clock A.M.

At Adams Centre, on the 11th inst., MRS. ORRA HEATH, wife of TIMOTHY HEATH, age 65 years. This woman has been a prodigy among women for some years, on account of her great weight, which was, at the time of her decease four hundred and fifty pounds.
At his residence in this village, on the 18th inst., of consumption, Mr. CHAS. T. BRAINARD, in the 25th year of his age. His funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. I. Brayton, at the second Presbyterian Church to one of the fullest congregations ever assembled on a similar occasion in this village. His remains were followed to their resting place by the members of the Mechanic's Mutual Protection. Lewis Co. papers please publish.

Fatal Accident-- A son of Mr. ENOCH BARNES, age about 6 years, residing near Theresa, was fatally injured on the 26th inst. He was sitting, in company with his father, upon the tongue of a lumber wagon, when the oxen, a spirited yoke, ran with great force, throwing off the father, and catching the little boy in some of the machinery at the junction of the tongue with the axletree. The flesh was literally stripped from one of his legs, while his body was one continuous bruise. He lingered until the next day, when he expired.

At Perch River, in the town of Brownville, on Thursday last, of inflammation of the bowels, JAMES L. BELTON, age 16 years, son of ROBERT BELTON.

At Franklin Co., Ohio, on the 21st July, MRS. MELISSA E. CLARKE, daughter of JOSEPH SAWYER of Watertown, the wife of DR. W. I. CLARKE, age 27? years and 11 months. Mrs. Clarke was born in Watertown, NY, August 5th -rest unreadable copy.

Of consumption at her residence, Woodville, on Sabbath morning, August 4, CLARISSA, 2nd wife of CAPT. WM. GRAY, in the 44th year of her age. Mrs. Gray's last illness, which was of four months duration was endured with great patience. She leaves an afflicted husband.
At Chicago of cholera, Sunday, the 28th ult, after a few hours illness, MRS. MARY ANN PIERCE, daughter of A. CHAPIN, Esq., of Tylersville, in this county. Within twelve short months from the time the subject of this notice left the parental home, and in four months from the time of her marriage, she was called to occupy the house appointed for all living.
