Whereas, It has pleased the Supreme Architect of the Universe to remove our worthy brother, AZARIAH WALTON, of Alexandria Bay, from the cares, troubles and sorrows of this fading, changing and transitory existence, to that never-fading, never-changing existence—Therefore

Resolved, That while the whole community mourns the loss of our departed friend and brother, this Lodge has more cause to lament, deeply lament, as they do, the loss of one of her oldest and favorite members, in whom they would at all times recognize the noblest work of God, an honest man, and an upright citizen, and a good, and faithful mason, to whom distress might prefer its suit, whose hand was guided by justice, and his hear expanded with benevolence; and although he has surrendered up his keys here, may he be invested with the keys which shall unlock to him the more sublime and ineffable Treasury of the Supreme Grand Lodge above, and there be welcomed as a beloved member of the brotherhood of the sons of light.

Resolved, That we affectionately tender to the widow and children of our departed brother, the heartfelt sympathy of this Lodge, and our individual condolences in their melancholy bereavement, and take pleasure in assuring them that to soothe the unhappy to compassionate their miseries and to restore peace to their troubled minds is the great object Freemasons have in view, and to us as a body, or to individual masons they have at all times a right to ask for aid, protection, or advice, should they ever need it, and no worthy mason will ever hesitate to respond promptly to that call.

Resolved, That the inhabitants of this village and the county of Jefferson have to deplore the loss of a prominent and valuable citizen, one who cherished a deep love for his family and friends and a lively interest in our village and our county. Resolved, That the Lodge room be clothed in mourning for three months, and the members wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.

Resolved, That a copy of the foregoing preamble and resolutions be presented to the widow and family and published in the county papers. /s/ CHARLES COMSTOCK, Secretary.

At an adjourned meeting of Alexandria Lodge, No. 297, held at Alexandria Bay, June 12th, at 4 o'clock, P.M., it was Resolved, That the thanks of this Lodge be tendered to members of adjacent Lodges, for their prompt attendance to assist in the burial of our deceased brother.

Resolved, Also, that the thanks of this Lodge be tendered to the Rev. Geo. W. Rockwell, of this place, for his able and eloquent address and on the funeral occasion. And that the above resolutions be published with the proceedings. /s/ CHARLES COMSTOCK, Secretary.
