At Pierrepont Manor, Jan. 6th, GEORGE H., son of H. A. and MARIA HATCH, age 16 years, 10 months and 9 days.

Suddenly at Camp Getty, near Portsmouth, VA, on the morning of the 30th Dec. 1863, HENRY L. CHRISTIAN, Orderly Sergeant of Co. C. 20th NY Cavalry, and late a member of the 35th Reg., age 21 years. The remains will be brought home for burial.

Oct. 31st, 1863, at Middlebury, Conn., of typhoid fever, MRS. CELESTIA (TYLER) HOPKINS, age 56, wife of HENRY HOPKINS of Rutland, Jeff. Co., NY. She was an only child of Deacon DAVID TYLER of Rutland, NY. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland. In February 1830, she married Mr. HENRY HOPKINS and became the mother of five children, all of whom now survive her. (long obituary followed notice)

On the 7th of December 1863, at her residence, in the town of Lyme, H. B. WATROUS, age 68 years, and 8 months.

At his residence, in Rutland, on the 26th of December, Mr. ELISHA CHURCHILL in the 66th year of his age. For many weeks Mr. C. suffered intensely from injuries received from a rock falling on him while at work in his field and which caused his death. (obituary followed)

On the 4th inst., in the Regimental Hospital of the Tenth NY State Artillery, SETH E., eldest son of SILAS M. JONES of Rodman, Jeff. Co., NY in his 21st year. He enlisted in the service in August 1862 and was stationed in the fortifications near Washington. He died of lung fever, after an illness of five days.

Mr. CHARLES S. ESSELSTYNE, son of WM. ESSELSTYNE, soldier of the 10th NY Artillery, Reg., and of Co. C., died in the Kalarama Hospital, D.C., Jan. 25th, 1864, of confluent small pox. He had enlisted two years prior to his death.

She was the daughter of the late ELI RUGG, who moved from Wilmington, VT in the beginning of this century to the “Royal Grant” in Herkimer County and then came here in 1806 and settled in Pamelia Village. She was left a widow and childless about 40 years ago. She has been a constant sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism for 25 years. (short obituary followed)
