In the matter of the estate of ABEL P. COLLINS in the Chancery Court of the State of NY in the City of Albany on 18 May 1843:
The petition of JOHN MACOMBER and MARIA COLLINS, a commission was issued in this matter on 18 January 1843 directed to WILLIAM SUMMERS and GEORGE H. W. LEGG of Spartanburgh district and JOHN R. SITTON of Pendleton, Anderson district in the state of South Carolina to examine WILLIAM B. SEAY of Spartanburgh and ROBERT H. CATES of Glens Springs in Spartanburgh district and WILLIAM J. POTTER of Pendleton district of Anderson in said state of South Carolina who are subscribing witnesses to the last will and testament of said Abel P. Collins, deceased..concerning the due execution of the last will and testament ..which is duly proved.
WILL OF ABEL P. COLLINS
ABEL P. COLLINS named his wife, MARIA COLLINS. He named his precious child, HELEN MARIA to receive half of his estate when she became of age. Named his nephew, ALONZO M. VAN OSTRAND. Named his nephew, DEWIT CLINTON VAN OSTRAND. Named the children of his brother, WILLIAM COLLINS but not by name. He named his wife, Maria Collins, as executrix. He named JOHN MACOMBER, JOHN WINSLOW and ____SLOAN as executors of his will. He willed two large kettles to JOHN MACOMBER. Will dated: 19 July 1843 at Spartanburgh, district of State of South Carolina. /s/ A. P. Collins

NOTE: Nephews Alonzo Morgan Van Ostrand and Dewitt Clinton Van Ostrand were the sons of Aaron VAN NOSTRAND and Elizabeth COLLINS. Alonzo M. Van Ostrand, a physician, resided in Evans Mills, and was Supervisor of the Town of LeRay in 1852-53.
