On 23 February 1842, WILLIAM H. CUMMINGS of Brownville, and ORVILLE V. BRAINARD of Watertown, petitioned to open probate on the estate. Executors of the will were WILLIAM H. CUMMINGS, ORVILLE BRAINARD, SARAH CUMMINGS and JAMES R. BOYD.

SARAH CUMMINGS, widow of the deceased
WILLIAM H. CUMMINGS, son of the deceased
MARY A. CUMMINGS, a minor of Brownville with no general guardian.
WILL OF COL. ALEXANDER CUMMINGS
ALEXANDER CUMMINGS, Colonel in the Army of the United States. Named his wife, SARAH. Named his daughter, MARY A. CUMMINGS. Piano to daughter, Mary, as it was a present from her father. Gave Mary 400 acres of land in Berrien, Michigan. Named his son, WILLIAM H. CUMMINGS. Left books and papers to his wife. Appointed wife, SARAH, son, WILLIAM H. and REV. JAMES R. BOYD and C. V. BRAINARD as executors. Will dated: 2 November 1841. /s/ Alexander Cummings.
