In the matter of the estate of ELIHU JONES of Henderson, Jefferson Co., NY: On 4 June 1849, RHODA JONES of Henderson petitioned to open probate and stated that ELIHU JONE died on 31 May 1849.

ELIHU JONES made his will at age 65. He named his wife, RHODA. Named ELIHU HILL, son of HIRAM HILL of Champion, who was the nephew of his wife and named after him. Named RHODA as sole executor. Will dated 28 January 1841.

NOTE: This was a hotly contested will with depositions from an enormous number of persons both in and out of Jefferson County. Rhoda Hill was the second wife of Elihu Jones and both his relationship with her and his medical problems became major issues in proving the will.
