On 4 March 1848, CLARK WILSON of Watertown petitioned to open probate and stated that James had named him as a devisee.

CLARK WILSON of Watertown, NY, all children of the deceased.
WILL OF JAMES WILLSON
JAMES WILLSON mentioned his wife, but not by name. Named GEORGE A., to make him equal with the rest of James' boys. Named CLARK and GEORGE A. to have care of JOHN L. He wanted John L. to never marry, and charged the brothers to take care and cherish him in sickness and health, but not to take care of any family for him. Will dated: 12 September 1842. /s/James Willson
