On 21 September 1847, ROBERT ELLIS and JOHN ELLIS of Ellisburgh, petitioned to open probate on the estate. They state in the petition that John Ellis had lately died and left a will.

all of Ellisburg, and the following named minors under 21 years:

JOHN ELLIS named his wife, CATHERINE. Named eldest son, CALEB. Named his son, SQUAIR. Named daughter, MARY. Named son, DANIEL. Named son, GEORGE R. Named daughter, HANNAH. Named son, EDWARD. He appointed ROBERT ELLIS, JOHN W. ELLIS and WILLIAM McKINDLEY as executors. Will dated: 30 Dec. 1846 /s/ John Ellis
