On 21 January 1842, CLARISSA F. SAFFORD and ISAAC H. FISK of Watertown, and STEPHEN LEONARD of Lowville, NY, petitioned to open probate, all as executors of the will.

JOHN SAFFORD named his wife, CLARISSA SAFFORD. Named his eldest daughter, MARY, wife of ISAAC H. FISK. Named his daughter, SUSAN M. Named his son, JOHN J. SAFFORD. Placed daughter, Susan, under the guardianship of his wife, Clarissa. Placed his son, John I., with STEPHEN LEONARD of Lowville, Lewis Co. He appointed Stephen Leonard of Lowville, Isaac H.
