In the matter of the estate of JONATHAN INGALLS of Jefferson Co., NY:
LYDIA INGALLS, wife of the deceased, presented an inventory to the court on 18 September 1814.
Of interest in the probate file is a letter-deposition written by JAMES BRINTNALL of Watertown, Jefferson Co, who swore that he was married to LYDIA INGALLS, widow of Jonathan Ingalls, who deceased about the year 1814. That Jonathan died leaving 6 minor heirs, to wit: WARD E. INGALS, ALMIRA INGALS, PHOEBE INGALS, WILLARD INGALS, MARY INGALS and LYDIA INGALS. He stated further that about the year 1818 he was appointed guardian of all minor heirs by the Surrogate Court. All but Lydia Ingals had arrived at the age of 21. Letter dated 27 March 1834.
