Lurancy Grannis Estate

In the matter of the estate of LURANCY GRANNIS of Carthage, Jeff. Co., NY.
On 4 March 1859, TURNER E. HOWARD of Rutland, petitioned to open probate.

LEVI HALE, Bureau Co., Illinois, brother of the deceased
JULIA WOODRUFF, wife of ORLIN S. WOODRUFF of Pamelia, Jeff. Co., a sister of the deceased, now in an asylum in Jeff. Co., at Pamelia, as an insane person.
JOHN GRANNIS of Wilna, husband of said deceased.


Lurancy Grannis, wife of JOHN GRANNIS of Carthage, named her nieces: SILVIA HALE and MARTHA HALE; AMANDA HALE and MARY HALE, daughters of deceased's brother, LEVI H. HALE of Bureau Co., Illinois, and also, niece, FRANCES WOODRUFF, daughter of her sister, JULIA WOODRUFF of Pamelia. Lurancy named: MARCUS BICKFORD, BENJAMIN F. BUSH, PITT MATHEWS and CRANSON GATES, Elders of the Church of the Disciples of Christ in Carthage. Lurancy named her husband, JOHN GRANNIS. She named WILLIAM J. GRANNIS and JOSEPH W. GRANNIS, sons of her husband. She appointed MARTIN L. GRANNIS and TURNER E. HOWARD both of Rutland and WILLIAM A. PECK of Carthage, as executors. B Will dated 8 January 1859. /s/ Lurancy Grannis

Lurancy stated that the house and lot in Carthage was deed to her and she had title. But, as Joseph W. Grannis, brother of her husband, John, claims a right or may claim a right to redeem the same on the payment of him of 8oo dollars, it is her will and directs her executors to deed the same to him or to any person whom he may by an instrument in writing designate, on the payment of my executors of 800 dollars.
