In the matter of the estate of MARY MADELAIN DEVOUASSOUX of Wilna, Jefferson Co., NY:
On 25 September 1841, FRANCIS DEVOUASSOUX petitioned to open probate. He stated that Mary had lately died and left a will and had appointed PATRICK L. STEWARD and JOHN SMITH of Wilna as executors.
Heirs/next of kin: FRANCIS DEVOUASSOUX, only son and child of the deceased. WILL OF MARY MADELAIN DEVOUASSOUX
MARY DEVOUASSOUX requested that she be buried on her farm in the place she had selected and pointed out. Named granddaughter, HORTENSIA, eldest daughter of her oldest son, FRANCOIS. Named granddaughters: HORTENSIA, MARY and ROSAISS, daughters of her son, FRANCOIS. Named son, FRANCOIS. At the death of her son, land to the granddaughters. She appointed JOHN SMITH, her next neighbor and P. W. STEWART of Carthage as executors. Will dated 2 December 1837. /s/Mary Madelain Devouassoux.
