In the matter of the estate of PATRICK AGAN of Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY:
There was no petition to open probate in the file and no will mentioned. AMASA HERICK was the administrator for the estate and charged a fee to the estate for traveling to Smith's Mills to take out a Letter of Administration on 26 September 1826. He also charged a fee against the estate on 16 October 1826 for taking out Letters of Guardianship. In December of 1826, he traveled to Utica, Sangerfield and Rochester to settle with the widow, ORPHA PARKER, as to her right of dower. However, payment on 22 March 1830 to a list of heirs follows:

NOTE: The debts against Patrick Agan were so great that the probate court ordered the sale of his real estate to satisfy the creditors. The property, located in Watertown, had a date of sale 24 February 1827.
Patrick Agan died in 1826 at age 43 years and is buried in Watertown. Wife, Elizabeth, died in 1825 at 37 years and is buried in Watertown.
