In the matter of the estate of PETER ESTES of Lyme, Jeff. Co., NY:
CATHARINE ESTES of the Town of Lyme petitioned: That Peter Estes late of the said town of Lyme died at his residence in said town in the 9th day of August 1849, a natural death; that ..for a long time previous he was a resident of the Town of Lyme; that he died intestate..Your petitioner further represents that the personal property of the said Peter Estes, would not exceed in value the sum of eight hundred dollars according to the best knowledge and belief of your petitioner... She further states that she is the widow of the deceased and desires that Admond B. Wynn and John P. W. Estates may be joined with her in the administration of the estate...

Dated: 22 August 1849.
On the 24th day of October 1850, E. B. Wynn being duly sworn said the heirs of Peter Estes, late of the town of Lyme in said county are:
JOHN P. W. ESTES, now temporarily residing in the town of Lyme and of full age
DELIA, wife of SAMUEL WILMOT of Fabius, Onondaga NY
ANN JENETTE, age about 9 years
BYRON DELOS, age about 6 years
ELLEN LOUISA, age about 4 years
SARAH CATHARINE, age about 2 years, all said minors being with their mother the widow of the said Peter Estes at her residence in the town of Lyme; that the above-mentioned persons and children are the only heirs of the said Peter Estes.

Transcriber's note: In November of 1850, creditors began filing paperwork for liens against the estate with claims that Peter Estes owed several sums of money. The estate dragged on until about 1856 when it was finally resolved. Jeff. Co. NY Estate Papers, Box E1-3, No. 34.
