William L. Payne Estate


In the matter of the estate of WILLIAM L. PAYNE of Housfield, Jefferson Co., NY: On 2 December 1853, ORANGE DEMICK of Hounsfield, petitioned to open probate.

SARAH R. PAYNE, JULIA A. PAYNE, HARRIET NICHOLSON, LYDIA S. PAYNE and WILLIAM L. PAYNE are all minors having no general guardian.

WILL OF WILLIAM L. PAYNE

WILLIAM PAYNE directed that his funeral expenses together with tombstones worth not less than fifty dollars, must be provided and erected in the proper manner within one year from the time of his death and paid for out of his estate. His gold watch, sofa and parlor chairs belonged to A. G. WILDER, by agreement. Named MATILDA THURSTING, (his housekeeper). The balance of his property as follows: ALDEN G. WILDER; his two natural sisters whose maiden names were CLARISSA and PAMELIA PAYNE; GEORGE R. PAYNE and RHODA PAYNE (widow of WORDEN PAYNE). His sister, CLARISSA, was dead and her shares were to be given to her natural heirs: GERALDINE & HARRIET NICHOLSON. Named MARGARET HANNON, who lived with him. Alden G. Wilder was to hold Margaret Hannon's four hundred dollars in trust until she reached 18 years. He appointed Alden G. Wilder and ORANGE DIMOCK to carry out the conditions of his will. Will dated 19 August 1853.
