In the matter of the estate of WILLIAM LAWRENCE of Ellisburgh, Jefferson Co., NY:

On 31 May 1851, RUTH LAWRENCE of Ellisburgh petitioned to open probate with ARTEMIS BATES as executors.

Heirs/next of kin:
RUTH LAWRENCE, widow of the deceased
HOWELL LAWRENCE, both of full age
ARVILLA LAWRENCE
MARIETTE ELLIS, wife of GEORGE R. ELLIS
FLORA ANN LAWRENCE, all minors under 21 and having no general guardian in the state and all of Ellisburgh, NY

WILL OF WILLIAM LAWRENCE

WILLIAM LAWRENCE named his wife, RUTH. He mentions sons and daughters but not by name. Directs his wife to provide education and act as guardian for those under 21 years of age. If his wife remarried or deceased, then his trusty friend, ARTEMUS BATES, of Adams, NY would assume the responsibilities. His wife RUTH and friend, ARTEMUS BATES were named as executors.
