PIONEER WILLIAM WILCOX FAMILY




1.  WILLIAM WILCOX (son of OLIVER WILCOX) was born May 22, 1792 in
Tiverton, RI, and died December 09, 1881 in Pt Peninsula, TWP Lyme,
Jefferson County.

He married

2.  LUCINDA WILCOX (daughter of WILLIAM and LUCINDA (BURDICK) WILCOX) was
born April 19, 1812.  She died May 12, 1888.

3.  WILLIAM STEWART WILCOX (son of WILLIAM and LUCINDA (BURDICK) WILCOX)
was born 1817 in Pt Peninsula,  Town of Lyme.  
He married

4.  ALBERT H WILCOX (son of WILLIAM and LUCINDA (BURDICK) WILCOX)  was
born September 15, 1826 in Pt. Peninsula, Jefferson County. In his youth
Mr. Wilcox was a sailor, navigating the lakes in the days when sailing
craft was the fastest means of travel.  Albert was a successful farmer on
the peninsula.  In 1860 their land was worth $3,600 and personal
posessions $1,200.  He died April 1910, Watertown, Jefferson County.

5.  OREN SCHUYLER WILCOX (son of WILLIAM and MARY (BURDICK) WILCOX)  was born
September 13, 1833 in Point Peninsula,  Town of Lyme, Jefferson County.  
As a boy he sailed the Great Lakes.  With his savings he came to Watertown 
and entered the old Black River Institute, where he received his education.  
He moved to Chaumont and opened a store, residing there until 1879. In 1885 
Mr. Wilcox left the mercantile business and entered the insurance business, 
to which he has bent his best efforts continually since.
