6 v HANNAH BOYDEN bapt. 4 May 1755; died 24 Dec 1836; married JONAS NICHOLS of Worcester, MA on 13 Dec 1770; died 1841 at 96 years

8 vii DOROTHY BOYDEN bapt. 10 Aug 1760; died 2 Nov 1851; married THOMAS NICHOLS, who lived in Barre VT; she died 1800 at 44 years.

7. JOSEPH BOYDEN, son of John Boyden and Elizabeth Rice, was born 23 Nov. 1757 in Auburn, MA and died 27 May 1840 in Lorraine, Jefferson Co. NY. He married 15 Dec. 1785 to MOLLY KNOWLTON, daughter of JOSEPH KNOWLTON and MARY KNOWLTON, (married 21 Sept. 1749 in Shrewsbury MA) of Shrewsbury MA. Molly was born 3 Aug. 1763 and died 27 Feb. 1843 in Lorraine, Jefferson Co. NY.
Joseph served in the Revolutionary War. See Fonda List for his military service. Joseph is listed in the DAR Patriot Index.
In the spring of 1788, Joseph Boyden moved from Shrewsbury MA to Guilford VT and settled on a farm deeded to him by his mother. On 7 Sept. 1790 he took the freeman's oath. He was chosen as constable or deputy sheriff for some years and in 1820 and 1824 he was a representative in the General Court. About 1832 he sold his farm and moved to Lorraine, Jefferson County, to live with his son, where he remained until his death.

11. SAMUEL BOYDEN, born 2 Oct. 1786, of Joseph and Molly, died 23 Aug. 1868 in Sackett's Harbor NY. He married 14 Dec. 1809 to EUNICE FISH of Halifax, VT. She was born 28 Feb. 1791 and died 23 Sept. 1841 in Sacketts Harbor. Samuel settled in Ellisburg and later moved to Sacketts Harbor in about 1839. He was a tanner, currier and shoemaker. Samuel is on the 1820 census at Ellisburg.

12. POLLY KNOWLTON BOYDEN, daughter of Joseph Boyden and Molly Knowlton was born 12 May 1790. She married 6 Feb 1812 ALVAH GROW in Guilford VT. and settled in Henderson, Jefferson Co., NY. Alvah Grow was the son of NATHANIEL GROW, born 25 May 1753, who died 9 July 1838 at 88 years and is buried in the Smithville Cem. In Jefferson Co. Nathaniel's wife, SUSANNA DOW, died 31 Jan. 1814 at 62 years and she is also buried in the Smithville Cem. Nathaniel Grow served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in CT; he is listed in the DAR Patriot Index.
Alvah was in the War of 1812 in Jefferson and died 8 May 1856 at 71 years and is buried in the Smithville Cem. in Jefferson Co., NY. Polly died 25 June 1850 at 60 years and is also buried in the Smithville Cemetery.

Alvah Grow was the son of NATHANIEL GROW, born 25 May 1753, who died 9 July 1838 at 88 years and is buried in the Smithville Cem. In Jefferson Co. Nathaniel's wife, SUSANNA DOW, died 31 Jan. 1814 at 62 years and she is also buried in the Smithville. Cem. Nathaniel Grow served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in CT; he is listed in the DAR Patriot Index. 14. JOHN BOYDEN born 12 August 1794, son of Joseph and Molly, died 15 June 1872 in Pierrepont Manor NY. He married 1st in 1818 to ABIGAIL BISHOP, of Boylston MA. She died in Lorraine, Jefferson Co. NY in 1822. John married 2nd in 1823 to NANCY CHASE of Worth, NY. She died 31 Dec. 1868. John settled in Lorraine, NY in 1815 and established the business of wool carding and cloth dressing. Was a member of the New York Assembly in 1847. John is on the 1820 census at Lorraine.

28 ii HARRIET BOYDEN born 14 June 1821; died 19 Feb. 1898; married in 1844 to AUGUSTUS L. BAKER of Mannsville, NY. He was born in 1813 and served in the Civil War.
29 iii BISHOP BOYDEN BORN 1823; died July 1826.
30 iv CORDELIA BOYDEN born 24 Oct. 1824; married in 1846 to ALBERT WEBB of Pierrepont Manor, NY. She died 1899.
16. HENRIETTA BOYDEN, daughter of Joseph Boyden and Molly Knowlton, was born 17 June 1798. She married 1827 ROBERT MUZZY of Maine and settled in Adams, Jefferson Co., NY. Robert was the son of Capt. ROBERT MUZZY of Dublin, NH. Henrietta died 29 May 1865 at 67 years and is buried in the Smithville Cem. in Jefferson Co., NY Robert died 10 May 1873 at 77 years 10 months.

28. HARRIET BOYDEN daughter of John Boyden and Abigail Bishop was born 14 June 1821; died 19 Feb. 1898. She married in 1844 AUGUSTUS L. BAKER of Mannsville, NY. He was born in 1813 and served in the Civil War. Both sons moved with their father to St. Paul, MN
