1. ENOCH EDDY the son of Enoch Eddy & Hannah Lippitt was born Jul 1767 and died: 20 Sep 1848 in Pamelia, NY. He was buried in the Evans Mills Old Cemetery. He was a Revolutionary veteran. The following family group description is adapted from Hamilton Child's "Gazetteer of Jefferson County, N.Y.", published in 1890.

Enoch Eddy came to this town from Rutland, Vt., in June 1800, with George White, who was known as "Major" White, and located on the farm now owned by his grandson, E.H. Eddy. He moved his family here in 1801, his son James at the time being 10 years of age. James Eddy married Cynthia Philbrooks, and settled on the homestead where his son E.H. now resides.

8. PHEBE EDDY daughter of ENOCH & AMY (KING) EDDY was born between. 01 - 04 Feb 1804 in: Rutland, Jefferson Co., NY. She died 26 Aug 1853 in OR or CA Phebe was the aunt of Henry Welch Eddy and Seth William Eddy who both married daughters of Henderson Luelling. Henry Welch Eddy was the son of Phebe's brother Horatio Nelson Eddy and his wife Philandra Welch; Henry married Jane Lewelling/Luelling. Seth William Eddy was the son of Phebe's brother Enoch D. Eddy and his wife Huldah Aldrich; Seth married Rachel Harriet Lewelling/Luelling. Phebe is believed to be the sister of Betsey Eddy who was the third wife of Henderson Luelling.

Very little is known of Phebe's 1st marriage. She and Ephraim owned property in Jefferson Co., N. Y. They started the overland trek to Oregon, and while in Missouri, they sold some of their N. Y. property. Record books show the following: 76-498: Ephraim Grimes & Phebe, his wife, Union Co., Mo.: to Phineas Hardy of the Town of LeRay, Jefferson Co., N. Y., property in the Town of Antwerp, Jefferson Co., N. Y. Ack. May 1, 1845, Jefferson Co., N. Y. 76-499: March 11, 1845, Ephraim Grimes & Phebe, his wife, to Paul Anthony, Town of LeRay, Jefferson Co., N. Y., property, Philadelphia, N. Y. Rec. & Ack. May 1, 1845.

Ephraim died in Apr. 1845. Phebe arrived in Portland, Ore., in the fall of 1847, and the following spring, she was visited by her nephew, Henry Welch Eddy (see index and 1930 book, p. 468, no. 3290), who went to Oregon to stay with his Aunt Phebe.

Further N. Y. records, having to do with the Estate of Ephraim Grimes, are dated Dec. 8, 1851; Jude Cross, Champion, Jefferson Co., N. Y., and Willard L. Eddy, Pamelia, Jefferson Co., N. Y., Administrators, to Samuel Hall, Antwerp, Jefferson Co., property in Town of Antwerp. Letters to administrate the estate were duly granted by the Surrogate of Jefferson Co. to the said Jude Cross and Willard L. Eddy (see index, and 1930 book, p. 190, no. 1583), who legally settled the estate. Also mentioned were Willard Grimes and Philander Grimes, probably sons of Ephraim and Phebe (Eddy) Grimes.
