PIONEER FRANKLIN FAMILY


1. JOHN FRANKLIN (son of STEPHEN and RACHEL (CARPENTER) FRANKLIN was born on 27 Oct 1763 in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. He resided in Winchester, NH c1767. Revolutionary War: he volunteered Mar 1781 for 11 months. Resided in Swanzey, NH c1783. John Franklin of Swanzey, Yeoman, sold to Eleazer Franklin of Swanzey, Yeoman, for $600.00 land in Swanzey 48 acres. Dated 5 Jul 1803.

Eleazer Franklin of Swanzey, NH leaves to "my Honored father, Stephen Franklin of Swanzey, for $600.00 and to my mother Rachel Franklin, all the land which I purchased of John Franklin. This land is for them to have for their natural life. " Dated 6 Jul 1803.

John Franklin resided in Trenton, Oneida, NY c1801/2. Resided in Ellisburg, NY ca 1806/7. Resided in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York in 1820. John died in Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York on 14 Feb 1850. He was 86.

Revolutionary papers state the he died "leaving no widow and the following surviving children only viz. John Franklin, this declarent, Ebenezer Franklin, Alpheus Franklin, Purley, wife of Joseph Howard, and Rachel, widow of Alvah Cummings."

He married 23 Sep 1783 when he was 19, in Winchester, New Hampshire.

PERLA BATTLE, who was the daughter of EDWARD & RUTH (KEMPTON) BATTLE. She was born on 21 Sep 1767 in Uxbridge, Massachsuetts. Perla died bef 14 Feb 1850; she was 82.
