FOX, Mrs. Louisa A., maiden name was Ainsworth. Married in 1870 to John Fox, a native of Montgomery Co., who died in Jefferson Co. NY in 1871. Her parents were D. F. Ainsworth and Charlotte Kniffin of Fairfield who were married in 1836.
GALLAGHER, Michael, was born in West Meith County Ireland in 1821. He emigrated to America in 1822. In 1851 he settled in the town of Newport where he farmed can was an extensive cattle dealer. He married in 1848 to Mary H. Cullen, of Newport. After her death, he married second in 1855 to Judeth Galvin of Jefferson Co. NY.
HILTON, Johan, was born in Montgomery Co NY in 1816; in 1833 he moved to Newport, Herkimer Co and was a blacksmith. He married Sarah A. Reeves of Jefferson Co NY on 16 Feb 1850. John was a blacksmith, manufactured wagons and carriages until 1847.
WHEELER, Jerome B., was born in the town of Russia, Herkimer Co on 4 January 1829. He married Emily E. Bow of Jefferson Co NY on 22 Feb 1852. He farmed and spent some time as a sailor on the lakes.
WOOD, Gary H. M.D. Was born 10 Dec 1854 in Ohio, Herkimer co NY, son of Benjamin F. and Asenath (Barnes) Wood. Dr. Wood married on 30 Aug. 1876 to Mary F. Tamblin of Black River, Jefferson Co NY, daughter of Jackson Tamblin, a prominent citizen of the Town of Rutland, Jefferson Co NY. Gary and Mary Wood resided in Antwerp, Jefferson Co. NY
HUNT, Isaac L. attorney of Jefferson Co NY, was born in Salisbury, Herkimer Co, NY on 4 Dec 1850, son of Rev. Isaac L. Hunt and Judith L. Lambertson, born 18 April 1818, daughter of Cornelius Lambertson. Attorney Isaac L. Hunt began his business career as an accountant in the Merchant's Bank of Watertown, NY. Afterwards he practiced law in Adams, Jefferson Co. NY, having been admitted to the bar in 1872. He married on 1 Sept 1874 to Alice A. Gilbert of Adams, Jefferson Co, daughter of Hon. William A. and Julia A. (Scott) Gilbert. Her father was a statesman of that area of New York.
SMITH, F. A., was born in the town of Clayton, Jefferson Co NY, on 19 July 1834. He became a blacksmith and wagon builder, and moved to Waterville, Herkimer Co. NY. He married Kate Vincent of Herkimer Co.
SWEET, Burton J. of Norway, Herkimer Co NY, was born in Norway on 20 July 1836, son of Jesse Sweet, son of Wanton Sweet, a native of Rhode Island. Wanton Sweet was born 6 October 1776 and moved to Salisbury NY and married in 1800 to Olive Carr of Salisbury, born 1783. Wanton died 2 Feb 1850 and Olive died 1 October 1856. Jesse Sweet was born in 1802 and on 10 March 1831 married Elizabeth Potter. Looking for land in Ohio, he died there in 1837. Burton J Sweet married in 1871 to Emily M. Crain of Evans Mills, Jefferson Co, NY, who was born 1843, daughter of Isaac and Mertilla (Root) Crain. Isaac Crain died 11 March 1888 and Mertilla Crain died Feb, 183.
ELY, Lester of Warren, Herkimer Co NY, was born in Theresa, Jefferson Co NY on 15 Feb. 1834, son of Alva and Harriet (Davidson) Ely. Alva Ely was born in Warren on 2 Dec 1802. Lester Ely was raised in Jefferson County and came to Warren when he was 19 years of age. In 1862 he bought land in Herkimer County. He married on 1 Jan 1861 to Mary Ousterhout, daughter of John and Susan Ousterhout.MINOTT, Wilbur V., was born in Schuyler, Herkimer Co NY in 1845 and married Sarah M. Lewis, born 6 Feb 1845, daughter of Rev. W. S. Lewis and Jane (Richards) Lewis, of Lafargeville, Jefferson Co NY on 28 Dec.1865. Wilbur was a farmer and commissioner of highways. He also served in the Civil War and participated in several engagements.
STEBBINS, Rev. John was born in 1779 and his wife, Achsah Fairbanks, were married in 1803 in Jefferson Co. NY. Both came from Massachusetts with their parents at a young age. After the War of 1812, they removed to Herkimer Co. NY. Rev. Stebbins died in 1827.
SHELDON, Abigail was the daughter of Caleb and Abigail (Waldo) Sheldon. She was born 9 March 1778. She married Ebenezer Ward on 20 Dec 1777, who died 18 July 1853. He was the son of Ichabod and Mehitabel (Marcy) Ward. They came from Dover, NY, to Norway, then to Russia. In later life, they removed to Jefferson County NY about 1848. Both are buried at Evans Mills. Abigail died August 1873 at age 95.
HARTER, Christopher, married 31 Dec. 1829 to Ann Brown, daughter of Ichabod Brown. The Harters moved to Scriba, NY and then settled in Jefferson Co., NY.
CORREY, William was born 22 Mar 1757 Coventry, Kent Co, RI. He applied for a Rev. War Pension on 10 Oct. 1832. He died 13 Dec 1839 in Russia, Herkimer Co NY. He married 1) Elizabeth Burnham about 1778 in Coventry, Kent co, RI. She was born 9 April 1758 in Coventry and died ther 11 Oct.1818. William married 2) Rachel Hickox on 1 October 1819 at Sackett's Harbor, Jefferson Co NY. She was born 14 Jan 1770 in Coventry, Kent Co., RI and died 9 Aug. 1865 in Russia, Herkimer Co. She applied for a widow's pension on 13 Dec 1839.
