Migrations - Part 16:

From Birch Run Townships in Michigan:

MARLIN J. COLIN of Birch Run Station was born in Jefferson Co., NY on 10 May 1837, son of XAVIER and JULIA (HORY) COLIN, natives of France. MARLIN was raised on a farm and when of age went to sea where he sailed for 10 or 12 years. He then came to Michigan and entered the mercantile trade with L. P. Racine. He was a postmaster of Birch Run in 1875. He married in New York PHOEBE M. JOHNSON a New York native.

G. W. COON was born in New York on 9 May 1815, son of GEORGE and NANCY COON. GEORGE was a native of Rhode Island and Nancy of Vermont. G. W. married on 25 May 1840 to ELIZA A. COTTER, who was born in Jefferson Co., NY on 4 Feb 1820, daughter of JOHN and LUCY WILSON COTTER, Vermont natives. ELIZA died in 1873 at Flint, MI and in 1878 G. W. married 2) LUCINDA CARR who was born in Canada on 25 May 1834, daughter of MOSES and ELIZABETH CARR. MOSES was a native of New Hampshire and ELIZABETH a native of Connecticut.

MORGAN DODGE was born in Jefferson Co., NY on 24 Sept 1821, son of OBED and BETSY (MERRILL) DODGE. OBED was a native of New Jersey and BETSY was a native of Vermont of French ancestry. MORGAN learned the ship carpenter trade in 1839 and worked at that trade for 17 years. He was also engaged in the lumber business and was the foreman of a large shipyard for many years. In 1877 he moved to Saginaw Co., MI. He married in Jefferson Co., NY in August 1849 MARIA PARKER, daughter of CARLTON and PRUDA PARKER. MARIA was born in Canada West in 1830.

A. C. EDWARDS was born in Steuben Co NY on 23 Nov 1839, son of PIERPONT and LUCINDA (WILLIAMS) EDWARDS. PIERPONT died on a visit to Birch Run in 1879. LUCINDA survived and lived on with A. C. EDWARDS. A. C. married in New York in 1863 FLORA NEAR, daughter of RICHARD and MARY NEAR. She was born in Jefferson Co., NY in 1841.

RAPHAEL PORTER was born in Jefferson Co NY on 16 Dec 1825, son of ASA and TABITHA PORTER of NY. RAPHAEL came to Birch Run in 1866 and married in that year SARAH E. WARDEN, born in St. Lawrence Co NY in 1847. He farmed in Birch Run.

LOUIS P. RACINE was a merchant of Birch Run. He was born in France on 25 Feb 1839, son of PETER and MARGARET CROISSANT RACINE, both natives of France. They emigrated to America in 1848 and resided in Jefferson Co., NY, where PETER became a successful farmer. LOUIS was a sailor on the Great Lakes in the summer and taught school during the winter for seven years. He married in New York on 6 March 1866 to MELITINE COLON, daughter of H. CALON, born in NY in November of 1838. MELITINE died in 1876 and LOUIS married 2) in Genesee Co., MI in 1879 Mrs. SARAH L. RANDALL FANGBONER, daughter of SEALAND and SARAH RANDALL. Mrs. SARAH RACINE was born in NY on 1 Feb 1840.

VICTOR B. ROTTIERS was born in Jefferson Co NY on 24 May 1842, son of JOHN N. and RUTH A. COTTER ROTTIERS. JOHN was a native of France. VICTOR served in the Civil War and was discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He emigrated to Saginaw County in 1865 and became a farmer. He married in Jefferson Co., NY in 1860 to EMILY SHUBENBURG, daughter of JACOB and ANNA SHUBENBURG, natives of Prussia. EMILY was born 24 May 1846.

CHARLES RUNDLET came from Vermont in 1817 and settled at Clear Lake and then later at Plessis where he had a farm. CHARLES died in 1881 at 83 years 6 mos 7 days and is buried in Plessis, Town of Alexandria, Jefferson Co., NY. POLLY SHEPARD, his wife, died 13 Mar 1875 at 77 years and 6 months, buried in Alexandria. POLLY'S maiden name was NEWMAN.

Children of CHARLES and POLLY RUNDLET:

1) SUSAN RUNDLET died 1 Aug 1852 at 17 years and is buried in Plessis
2) JOSEPH WILLIAM RUNDLET was born in 1825 and died 18 Aug 1913 in Town of Alexandria. His wife, MARY A. VANDERBURGH was born 20 May 1827 and died 25 Aug 1908. MARY was the daughter of RICHARD VANDERBURGH and EUNICE SOUTHWORTH. JOSEPH and MARY were married on 8 Jan. 1851.

Children of JOSEPH and MARY RUNDLET:

a) JOSEPH and MARY had a daughter, MARY ELIZABETH RUNDLET, who was born 6 April 1863 in Plessis, Jefferson Co. She married on 25 Sept 1888 at Alexandria Bay as his second wife, CHARLES ALDEN WILSON. CHARLES was born on 2 April 1861 at the Wilson homestead at Hyde Lake in Jefferson Co. His first wife was a Miss FROST, and by her had a daughter, HATTIE, who married a Mr. HUNTER.
b) BENNIE D. RUNDLET died 1 Dec 1890 age 19 years
