1. THOMAS MOONEY, Sr., (son of JAMES and CATHERINE (nee MOONEY) MOONEY) was born in 1813 probably in County Londonderry, Ireland. He lived in the townland of Culderry (Coolderry), Kildollagh Parish, County Londonderry, from the mid 1830's until 1848. During the midst of the Great Famine, he and his family sailed on a six-week sea journey from Londonderry to Quebec and settled briefly in the present Brockville to Gananoque region. The family moved to Town of Rutland in 1849. He was a well-respected blacksmith and farmer in Rutland Center with a home on the east side of Miser Road just north of Highway 126. His blacksmith shop was located on the north side of Highway 126 between Miser Road and Highway 162. The family were members of the Rutland Congregational Church. He died at the age of 96 years on 9 June 1909 in Watertown, Jefferson County, at the home of his son, SAMUEL J. MOONEY, where he lived his last year. He is buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Copenhagen, Lewis Co., NY. (The family is listed as MONEY in the 1850 U.S. Census for Rutland Center and as MOONEY in the 1855 NY Census and all later enumerations and references.)

JANE (JENNIE) CASKEY (daughter of JOHN and NANCY (STERLING) CASKEY of
County Londonderry, IRL) who was born 11 Jun 1815 County Londonderry,
IRL. She died 20 July 1887 at 72 years age at her home in Rutland
Center, Jefferson County, NY. She is also buried in the Riverside
Cemetery in Copenhagen.
(No siblings have been found to date for either Thomas Mooney or Jane Caskey.)
