1. BENJAMIN MOTT was born about 18 Jan 1801 in England. He emigrated to the United States, about 1825 or 1826 and appears in Hounsfield by 1830.
Benjamin had at least two brothers. JOHN MOTT lived in Hounsfield for some time and then moved to Wisconsin, dying there 10 Feb 1877. SAMUEL MOTT (1815-1901) of Black River, Jefferson Co. and later Martinsburgh, Lewis County, NY. was also a brother.
It is likely that Benjamin was married twice. His first marriage would have taken place in England prior to his emigration to the United States. The family moved to Philadelphia N.Y. about 1853. He died on 12 Aug 1888 in Philadelphia, Jefferson County, NY, and is buried at Sandy Hollow Cemetery.

SUSAN WILDER who was born about 1810, possibly in Pennsylvania. She died on 8 Sep 1891 in Philadelphia, Jefferson Co., and is buried at Sandy Hollow Cemetery.

3. WILLIAM MOTT was born on 5 Mar 1824 in England. He immigrated with his father at the age of 1 year, and appears to have settled in Belleville about 1862, where he was the proprietor of a grist mill in 1890. He died on 8 Jan 1899 in Belleville, Jefferson County NY, and is buried at Adams, Jefferson County.
William fought in the civil war as a private in Capt. Adams Cleghorn's Company "A", First Battalion, Company "E" of the 5th (Black River) Regiment of Artillery. He received a pension based on injuries received in the battles around Petersburg in July 1864.

HARRIET WILES who was born 27 Jul 1829 in Connecticut, and died on 7 Feb 1865, probably in Belleville.

13 i MARY ROYELLA MOTT married FRANK COLLINS. A reference in the Jefferson County Journal June 20, 1893 refers to a visit to William Mott of Belleville by Mrs. F.M. Collins of Petaluna, California.

ALMA MELISSA RAY who was born about 1830 in Russell, St. Lawrence Co., NY, and died on 17 Jul 1870 in Belleville.

CHARLOTTE GILMAN who was born about 1832 and died on 11 Nov 1871 in Belleville.
He married (4) on 6 May 1872 in Philadelphia, Jefferson County
NANCY ABIGAIL PHELPS, who was the daughter of Ransome and Laura PHELPS. She was born on 16 Oct 1838 in Connecticut, and died on
24 Feb 1919 in Watertown.

5. SYLVESTER B. MOTT was born about 1830 in Hounsfield, Jefferson County. He moved to Langehorne, Bucks Co., PA toward the latter part of the century.
