PIONEER SHAY FAMILY



1. PHILLIP SHAY was a tailor in Three Mile Bay in the mid-1800's. He was born in Ireland about 1817, but I don't know when he immigrated to NY. Their first son, Peter, was born in Jefferson Co. in 1838; he died in 1870. (missing section) was born in 1845 on Pillar Point, but the family moved to Three Mile Bay, where Phillip died in 1887.

EDWARD and WILLIAM were Great Lakes captains. ELLA had no children, but was married first to LL Lowell, a Watertown music teacher and artist, and then to Byron Curtis.  They both predeceased her.

He married
MARY ANN TAYLOR, who was born in either NY or Canada (she gives both as her place of birth in two different censuses)

4   iii    ELLA SHAY m (1) L.L. LOWELL, m (2) BYRON CURTIS.
