1. JAMES SPENCER, Jr., (son of JAMES and SARAH (---) SPENCER, was born about 1811 in England (possibly in Buckinghamshire). With his parents James and Sarah, and his two young children, Alfred and Caroline, he emigrated about 1833 to Henderson where he may have had a brother, Joseph, already residing. He lived around the Henderson area until his death on 15 April 1882, and was was buried in the Smithville Cemetery.

Children, from first wife, Anne, born in England SPENCER:
1 i ALFRED H. SPENCER married LYDIA MAY OVERTON.
2 ii CAROLINE SPENCER
He married, (2) shortly after arriving in Jefferson County,
PAMELA HAWKINS, who also died in 1882, and was buried in the Smithville Cemetery. They had a large family.
