2. RICHARD VAN ALLEN (son of PETER & MARIA (ELLWOOD) VAN ALLEN) was born 1773. 7 April 1800 he and Jacob Van Allen, on a list of road workers for the Town of Manheim, Herkimer County, were obligated to work on the road two days. He was elected constable 20 March 1802. By 1816 they had moved to Oppenheim, Herkimer County. Later they moved to Jefferson County, Town of Brownville, where he died 6 May 1844. He was buried in Perch River Cemetery, Town of Brownville.

ANNA C. "Nancy" ZIMMERMAN, daughter of CONRAD L. & MARGARET (?SNELL) ZIMMERMAN, was born 1779. She died in Jefferson County and was buried in Perch River Cemetery with her husband.

3. PETER VAN ALLEN (son of PETER & MARIA (ELLWOOD) VAN ALLEN) was born in Herkimer County, NY. He was one of the pioneer settlers of the town of Orleans.

He married
OLIVE FORBES. They had eleven children, six of whom survived.

9. MINDRED VAN ALLEN (son of RICHARD & ANNA C. "Nancy" (ZIMMERMAN) VAN ALLEN was born in St. Johnsville, NY in 1781, and came to Watertown about 1830, finally locating in Brownville. John and Augustus Van Allen served in Co. K, 35th NY Regt., and Jerome in Co. B, 20th NY Regt. John reenlisted in Co. B, 20th NY Cavalry. Daniel D. served two years in the 35th Regt and one year with the 2d. Conn. Artillery. Charles served in Co. B, 20th NY Regt, and Myron in Co. M, same regiment. MINDRED died in Brownville in 1849, aged 68 years.

17. BENJAMIN VAN ALLEN (son of PETER & OLIVE (FORBES) VAN ALLEN) was educated in the common shcools of his native town.

He married August 18, 1841,
MARYA. ANTHONY, of the Town of Lyme, who bore him eight children, four of whom survived. She died in 1866.

24. AUGUSTUS P. VAN ALLEN (son of MINDRED & MARIA (VANDEWALKER) VAN ALLEN) served in Co. K, 35th NY Regt. during the Civil War. They resided in the village of Dexter.

MRS. MARIAN WAIT who was the daughter of HIRAM LOOMIS of Dexter.

41 i DANIEL VAN ALLEN

29. BENJAMIN VAN ALLEN (son of MINDRED & MARIA (VANDEWALKER) VAN ALLEN) was born 24 July 1795 in Montgomery County, NY. He was the son of Richard and Nancy Zimmerman Van Allen. He married Mary Zimmerman on 16 March 1819 in St. Johnsville, Montgomery County, NY. He died about 1884 and by 4 December 1885 in Dodge County, Minnesota.

Military records show that he served as a musician (drummer) in Captain Benjamin Ellwood's Company, 19th Regiment of Infantry, New York Militia from 7 Sept. to 14 Nov. 1814. He was discharged at Sackett's Harbor, NY. He came to Minnesota after 1861 and settled in Canisteo Township, Dodge Co., MN.
