Cole had been killed by a gunshot wound and the weapon was near him the stock resting on a bush. When found the clothing on Cole's body was on fire. Mr. Woodward extinguished the flames and gave the news of the affair. Coroner Rexford was notified but after looking into the matter concluded that an inquest was unnecessary as it was a clear case of suicide. Cole had been visiting his brother in Huntingtonville and left there for his home Tuesday night, taking his shotgun with him. The next heard of him was Thursday morning when he was found a corpse. It is supposed that he had been roaming about from the time he left his brother's home. He had a severe illness last spring and since that time had been somewhat demented.

REDFIELD, who established and operated a tannery there. The family afterward came to this city when it was in its infancy and Mr. Redfield was prominently known as one of the first deacons in the old Presbyterian Church.
