In the matter of the estate of ALONZO REED, late of the city of Detroit, County of Wayne, Michigan:
Upon the petition of JOHN JOHNSTON of Clayton, Jeff. Co., NY, he stated that he was one of the executors named in the last will and testament of Alonzo Reed. Further, the will had been admitted to probate in Wayne County, and that letters testamentary had been issued to the petitioner. The testator died in the City of Detroit, not being an inhabitant of New York, and not leaving any assets in Michigan but at the time of the testator's death he was seized of real estate situated in the village of Clayton, Jeff. Co., NY.
None of the heirs at law are residents within the State of New York and none of the persons interested in any respect under said will are residents within the State of New York, except the petitioner. The petitioner therefore asks that the last will and testament be admitted to probate by the Surrogate of Jeff. Co., per a duly authenticated copy of which is produced before the court.
Dated 30 August 1873. /s/ John Johnston
