In the matter of the estate of HARVEY RICE of Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY:
The petitioner, OLIVE RICE, his widow, stated that Harvey deceased on the 2nd October 1848, at his residence in Watertown, a natural death and had died intestate. The widow asked that JOHN BAKER of Hounsfield could be joined with her as administrator of the estate. Dated 17 October 1848.
John Baker was subsequently appointed as an administrator and in a communication to the Surrogate court he advised that Olive Rice, widow, had remarried and was living in either Oneida or Herkimer County, NY. She had little to do with the estate of Harvey Rice. Within the settlement notice for the estate it is shown that the following heirs/next of kin would share in the residue of the estate:
OLIVE MINOTT, late widow of Harvey Rice, now remarried
BYRON RICE
BUNNELL RICE
HARVEY W. RICE
ELIZABETH DUTCHER, wife of HIRAM DUTCHER
Olive was the guardian for Byron Rice and Bunnell Rice, both minors under the age of 21 years.Jason Rice became the general guardian of Harvey W. Rice. THOMAS MINOTT signed the final settlement papers with Jason Rice, Olive Minott, H. Dutcher and Elizabeth Dutcher.
