This document gives James Hewitts date of death, the only source I know of. He was born 9 February 1762 at Voluntown, Windham, CT. Notice this document is in a different location from the first. A Revolutionary War veteran, he received pension S133558
In the matter of the estate of James Hewitt of Philadelphia, Jeff. Co., NY:
John Hewitt presented a statement to the Surrogate Court that informed James Hewitt was a Pensioner of the United States at the rate of forty dollars per annum; was a resident of Jefferson Co., and died in Philadelphia, Jeff. Co., in the year 1848 on 27 August 1848. That he left no widow but the following children:

John Hewitt of Philadelphia, Jeff. Co., NY
Collins Hewitt, whose last known place of residence was Ohio
Cynthia Locklin, wife of William Locklin, whose last known place of residence was in Saratoga Co., NY
Hannah Cole, wife of Luther Cole, whose last known place of residence was in the western borders of the State of New York or the eastern part of Pennsylvania, all children and only children of the deceased and all of lawful age.
