Petition to open brought by MARGARET FRY, wife of ADAM FRY, and sister of JOHN and SILAS SALSBURY, dated 24 June 1848.

In a letter to the Probate court, Margaret and Adam Fry, ELANOR COON, wife of EZRA COON, and POLLY CHEEVER of Clayton, wife of STERLING CHEEVER, all women sisters of the two deceased men stated: that John Salsbury departed in Puebla Mexico in August of 1847 and Silas departed in October of 1847 in the city of Mexico. The sisters waived their right to administer the estates and asked that E. C. CHURCH of Antwerp, Jefferson Co., take on the responsibility of administration. Petition witnessed by: LEONARD FRY, E. C. CHURCH and ADAM SHUMB. Having been notified as a possible heir, LEVI SALSBURY of Oswego, Oswego Co., NY on 1 April 1848 also recommended that E. C. Church be appointment as administrator. In a petition of ELIHU C. CHURCH of Antwerp as administrator, stated that John and Silas, brothers, died natural deaths in Mexico-John on the 23rd day of August and Silas on the 5th day of October 1847; both died intestate. They were with the Army in Mexico and regularly entitled U. S. soldiers; that they belonged to Company "B" of the United States Infantry. Both men were owners of property or claim against the US Government for pay as soldiers which amounted to approximately $60 for each man. Further, Silas Salsbury left a wife who had refused to live with him and named another person some years before the departure of the said Silas to the wars and that benefits left them, surviving as their only heirs at law and next of kin:

POLLY CHEEVER wife of STERLING CHEEVER of Clayton
ELENOR COON, wife of EZRA COON of Pamelia
LEVI SALSBURY of Oswego Co NY
