On 31 April 1842, ELISH WAKEFIELD of Watertown, petitioned to open probate on the estate and Joseph had appointed Elisha Wakefield and John T. Dreser of Watertown as executors.

WILL OF JOSEPH WAKEFIELD
JOSEPH WAKEFIELD named his wife, LUCY. Gave her the Howell Lot in Watertown and furniture that belonged to Lucy when he married her. Named his six children: BETSEY WATERS, ELISHA, ORIN, ZERAH, CYRENUS, EGBERT WAKEFIELD. Appointed JOHN G. DRESSER and son, ELISHA WAKEFIELD as executors of the will.
