Mary Hawkins Estate



In the matter of the estate of Mary Hawkins of Henderson, Jeff. Co., NY:
On 10 __, 1852, John Brown petitioned to probate.

John Brown stated that Mary Hawkins was a widow of Stephen Hawkins, a Revolutionary Pensioner, at the rate of $80 per annum and was a resident of Jefferson County. She died in the town of Henderson on 9 February 1852, intestate, and left no children or relatives. She was indebted to the petitioner for her board, care and sickness and funeral charges, from 4 September 1851 to 9 February 1852 at $80 per annum. She left no property except a few clothes of little or no value. As her sole creditor John asked to be appointed as administrator of her estate. Jeff. Co.,

To the Surrogate of the County of Jefferson:

The petition of the undersigned resident of the Town of Henderson in the County aforesaid respectfully represents; that Mary Hawkins, widow of Stephen Hawkins, was a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United States at the rate of $80 per annum; was a resident of the County of Jefferson in the State of New York and died in the town of Henderson in the State of New York in the year 1852 on the 9th day of February and left no children or relatives to the knowledge of this deponent and that the said Mary Hawkins died intestate and was indebted to this petitioner for her board, care, sickness and funeral charges, a sum of money larger than any amount of pension due her at her death, which was from the 4th day of September 1851 to the 9th day of February 1852 at $80 per annum and that she left no property except a few clothes of very little or no value. Your petitioner therefore prays for a certificate of facts and that he being the sole creditor may be appointed administrator of the estate of the said Mary Hawkins, deceased.
