In the matter of the estate of MOSES C. MERRELL of Champion, Jefferson Co., NY:

WILL OF MOSES C. MERRELL

MOSES C. MORRELL, named in his will, his beloved wife PHILENA MERRELL; sons: MOSES L. MERRELL, SAMUEL MERRELL and JOHN H. MERRELL. Daughters: WAITSTILL REED, SIBEL MERRELL, HARRIET ANN MERRELL, ALTHELA MERRELL, MARY S. MERRELL and EVALINA MERRELL. Daughters: ELIZABETH MORRELL and LUCRETIA MERRELL. Gave to the Town of Champion 1/4 acre of land, occupied as a burying ground, for the use of a public burying ground. Son, MINER C. MERRELL, who was made sole executor. Will dated 8 January 1839. /s/ Moses C. Merrell.

NOTE: Moses Cook Merrell was born 3 June 1785 in West Hartford and died near Great Bend, NY in 1839. He moved to Champion, NY about 1804 and lived near Great Bend. His wife was Philena Crandall, daughter of Abel and Elizabeth Crandall, early pioneers of Champion. Philena lived on after his death in Champion and died there about 1856.
