On 5 January 1863, Sally Hopkins of Wilna, petitioned to open probate.

Ira Hopkins of Wilna
Charles C. Hopkins of Champion
Harriet E. Aldrich, wife of Seth Aldrich of Antwerp, all of Jefferson County, NY and children of the deceased of full age.
Stanton made his will at age 62 on 24 August 1860. Named his wife, Sally Hopkins and appointed her executrix of the will. "I have at the date of this my will three children living, to-wit: Ira Hopkins of Crawford County, Pennsylvania; Charles C. Hopkins of Ellisburgh, Jefferson County and Harriet E. Aldrich, wife of Seth Aldrich of Philadelphia, Jefferson County. He left nothing to his children and stated that the estate would be no more than sufficient for the proper support of his wife. Will dated 24 August 1860. /s/ Stanton W. Hopkins
Witnesses: John W. Arthur and Joel R. Hopkins
Will proved: 19 January 1863.
