Be it Remembered, That heretofore, to wit: on the 7th day of December in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine Rosetta Cornwell B. Jennie Cornwell and Adelbert R. Cornwell constituting all of the rest of his heirs at law and the Exector named in the last Will and Testament of Adolphus Cornwell late of the Town of Pamelia in the County of Jefferson, deceased, appeared in open Court before the Surrogate of the County of Jefferson and made application to have the said last Will and Testament which relates to both Real and Personal Estate immediately proved; and on heirs at law and next of kin of the said testator, and their respective residences, and they are as follows, viz:

B. Jennie Cornwell Daughter Town of Pamelia N.Y.
Both of full age, and on that day, no one appearing to oppose the probate of such Will such proceedings were thereupon had in said Court afterwards, and that said Surrogate took the proofs of said Will herein set forth, upon this 7th day of December A.D. 1899 and he thereupon adjudged the said Will to be a valid Will of Real and Personal Estate, and the proofs thereof to be sufficient, which said last Will and Testament and proofs, are hereinafter recorded in this book.

Will
In the name of God. Amen---
I Adolphus Cornwell of Pamelia Jefferson County New York being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say:
First: ----After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath and devise to my beloved daughter B. Jennie Cornwell all of my property and Estate both real and personal of which I shall die the owner of and possessed. She to have the same absolutely and in fee.
Second: ----I hereby authorize and empower my Executor hereinafter named to sell and convey all of my Real Estate and desire him to consult my said daughter with reference to the sale thereof before making a sale of the same.
Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint my Nephew Adelbert R. Cornwell of Adams, N.Y. to be sole Executor of this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the 18th day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety three.

The above partly written and printed instrument was subscribed by the said Adolphus Cornwell in our presence and acknowledged by him to each of us; and he at the same time declared the above instrument, so subscribed, to be his last Will and Testament; and we, at his request, have signed our names as witnesses hereto, in his presence and in the presence of each other, and written opposite our names our respective places of residences.

Note from transcriber: Adolphus was the son of Daniel Cornwell and Betsy Farr. Born February 2, 1816 in LeRay, Jefferson, NY, he died November 27, 1899 in Pamelia. His three wives were Sarah Ann Van Ness (Abt 1814-1866), Sarah Jane Jackson (1835-1875) and Rosetta C. Crosby.
His surviving daughter, Birdie Jane Cornwell, married in 1901 to Robert B. Hodge, sometimes written as Hodges.
