PIONEER WOODWARD FAMILY



1. CALEB WOODWARD, (son of CALEB and (---) WOODWARD) was born 25 May 1769/59. He lived in Dutchess County until about 1792, when he and his wife moved to Hillsdale, Columbia County. A few years later they moved to Town of Warren in Herkimer County, and from there to Rodman, Jefferson County about 1803. In Rodman, CALEB bought land on Dry Hill and engaged in manufacturing potash. CALEB with two sons and others cut the first road through from Toad Hollow to Nathaniel Harrington's, a near neighbor of the Woodwards. The Woodward children all married in the Rodman area of Jefferson County. CALEB WOODWARD died 24 Apr 1860, possibly in Canada, but he is buried with ANNA in Honeyville.

He married 5 Dec 1781 (Thanksgiving Day)
ANNA SMITH, who died 27 Nov 1840
